Wiregrass Construction Company (WCC) is seeking current Civil Engineering or Construction Management students to join our team! We are offering a 16-week paid internship program for our Spring session, that will give you real work experience in our industry.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform work both in the office and in the field in the following areas, including but not limited to:
1. Workforce Development
Support employee growth and advancement through comprehensive professional development initiatives, ensuring the success of current and future team members.
2. Safety
Receive extensive training in safety protocols across all departments, promoting a culture of wellbeing and ensuring the safety of the entire workforce.
3. Shadow Superintendent
Gain invaluable insights into the daily responsibilities of a superintendent, equipping yourself with the knowledge and confidence to excel in this critical role.
4. Fleet/Transportation
Collaborate with the fleet and transportation team to observe the application of advanced technology in equipment maintenance and operational efficiency, highlighting our commitment to innovation.
5. Estimation and Project Management
Participate in the pre-construction process alongside the Estimation and Project Management team, gaining hands-on experience with essential software for efficient project scheduling and bidding.
6. Plants
Explore asphalt plants where raw materials are processed to produce asphalt and related products, understanding the critical role these facilities play in the construction industry.
7. Quarry
Engage in hands-on learning about material extraction processes, including firsthand experience with quarry operations, emphasizing our resource management practices.
8. Quality Control
Work in laboratories to test incoming and produced materials, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards essential for construction projects.
9. Paving
Collaborate with award-winning paving crews to observe the final stages of construction, gaining practical experience in creating safe and efficient travel infrastructure for communities.
Adherence to safety requirements and procedures

Requirements:
- Current student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Ability to organize and manage time and duties efficiently
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Employer conducts drug screening and background check
- Valid driver’s license required as field engineer will frequently travel to and from the office
