Activities Coordinator

Your day as a Activities Coordinator

As an Activities Coordinator at Palolo Chinese Home, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the lives of our residents through engaging senior recreation programs. Your primary responsibility will be to engage residents and participants in activities of interest, ensuring that everyone feels included and motivated. Leading by example, you will inspire activity aides to actively involve residents while meticulously documenting the plan of care in accordance with regulatory standards. You'll plan, implement, and conduct programs daily on assigned units, keeping everyone informed with an up-to-date activity calendar. In addition, you will maintain attendance records and provide suitable activities for residents unable to leave their rooms, ensuring that each individual's needs are met with respect and benevolence.

Are you the Activities Coordinator we're looking for?

To thrive as an Activities Coordinator at Palolo Chinese Home, you will need a combination of essential skills and qualifications. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with current CPR and First Aid certification to ensure the safety of our residents. To qualify, candidates should have one of the following: certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), completion of a national or state-approved training program in occupational or recreation therapy, or at least two years of activities experience with seniors or the elderly within the last five years. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial to effectively engage residents in senior care activities and motivate activity aides.

Additionally, proficiency in documenting care plans accurately and maintaining activity records will enhance your ability to coordinate successful elderly care programs. Your passion for improving the quality of life for seniors will be your greatest asset in this rewarding role.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • High school diploma, GED, or higher.
  • Must have current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must have one of the following to qualify:
    • Have certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) OR
    • Completion of a national or state approved training program for occupational therapy OR recreation therapy OR
    • Have at least 2 years of activities experience with seniors/elderly within the last 5 years.
