Hours 8.5 hour shift completed between 7am and 6pm CST / 40 hours / week
 

GIS Editor / Analyst

Description

Client is seeking to expand their GIS Editor and Analyst team, who work on GIS Navigation Products for Client. Editors will be working on various project types and workflows to support the advancement of Client Maps products. Editors work on varying scopes of GIS assignments, editing, notating and scraping GIS data points based on clients needs and timelines.

Successful completion of assignments requires review and QA/QC of GIS data points and use of human judgement about real-world features represented in multi-layer imagery and other data sources with a delivery of 95% accuracy or higher for each data point. Editors review 50-300 GIS data points daily, add notation and deliver based on scope presented at kickoff of each project.

Project type may include but are not limited to:
 

  • Label Creation - the generation of object labels from imagery and device probe data to support machine learning.
  • Prototyping - the development of new feature data to support the development of new tools and processes.
  • Data Analysis - the assessment of outputs from new tools and processes.
  • Sample Creation - the generation of representative samples for specific properties at target assurance levels.

Duties
 

  1. Understand the content, scope, currency, resolution and accuracy of assigned Product Signals.
  2. Make best use of assigned Product Signals to complete appropriate assignments.
  3. Understand and observe all applicable standards and specifications to protect the integrity and consistency of the Client Maps Data Evaluation ecosystem.
  4. Complete all appropriate metadata and status updates to reflect the current state of assignments.
  5. Observe and report on Product Signal issues, specification ambiguities, procedure gaps and tool bugs.
  6. Observe and report on additional opportunities for improvement in focus areas defined for each Product Assignment.
  7. Participate in peer-review exercises as defined by the Supplier Team Lead.
  8. QA/QC data points delivering 95% accuracy or higher.
  9. Complete accurate timesheet reporting daily that support measurements of throughput by assignment and task type.

Qualifications
 

  • Demonstrated ability to perform open-source research with a variety of search tools and techniques.
  • Ability to interpret multiple, potentially overlapping, signals according to source interpretation guidelines and priorities.
  • Ability to recognize common planimetric features in natural color photography.
  • Working knowledge of computer terms and concepts, especially as they apply to data sources and products that describe geo-referenced business listings.
  • Ability to follow (or question) complex procedural instructions in English that may have gaps, ambiguities, contradictions or other imperfections typical of early-stage piloting.
  • Ability to produce concise documentation of issues encountered during the execution of Product Automation Assignments, in a format that may be dictated to support issue tracking systems and to support the analysis of issue uniqueness.
  • Ability to work full-time on location as required by Client- North Austin Client Campus
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation, and ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Ability to learn and navigate new computer programs and project workflows
  • Experience and ability of completing the same task repetitively

Desired Skillsets ( 1 year experience in)
 

  • Experience in ArcGIS, ArcPro
  • Experience with QGIS
  • Experience with Esri or similar tool
  • Education in GIS or related field

  • Basic scripting and automation skills in QGIS
