The State Water Resources Control Board’s has an opening for a lead Information Technology Specialist II (GIS) in the Business Operations Branch of Division of Information Technology. The position is located at 1001 I Street, 8th Floor, Sacramento, right in the heart of downtown next to light rail stations, other public transportation, restaurants and more.

Duties:

Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I (ITM I) of the GIS Unit in the Division of Information Technology, and consistent with good customer service practice and the goals of the State and Regional Board’s Strategic Plan, the Information Technology Specialist II (ITS) acts as a lead project member and works independently as a technical specialist on complex Geographic Information Systems (GIS) assignments. The ITS will be responsible for providing leadership, expertise, innovative problem solving, and providing GIS content support for State and Regional Board programs. The ITS will lead in the planning, coordinating and implementation of activities that require the development of GIS solutions using ArcGIS desktop and web technologies. The incumbent will serve as a lead GIS Analyst and Administrator and will have knowledge of and experience with geography, GIS concepts, Esri GIS mapping software, databases, and Microsoft Office technologies. The ITS will provide expertise in IT services in the Business Technology Management and Software Engineering domains.

The ITS will be courteous, communicate effectively and professionally (written and verbal) with team members and customers, provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments and consider internal/external customer needs when completing work assignments. The ITS is also expected to maintain proficiency in GIS technology, infrastructure, techniques, methodologies, and industry best practices.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.

Salary: $8,374.00 - $11,220.00 per Month
