Medical Scribe/Assistant

Our fast-paced, high-volume Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery office in N.W. Washington, DC is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, mature, caring, and extremely competent medical scribe/assistant. This is a great job for a recent college graduate who is considering going into the medical field. Prior experience in medical scribing is preferred and/or experience working in the healthcare field.

Asking for a minimum ONE YEAR commitment. This job is considered a stepping stone before pursuing graduate education; we have an excellent history of prior employees matriculating into medical/PA/NP school.

The office is accessible by bus and parking is available on-site. Access to reliable transportation is a must.

SKILLS: *MUST BE A COLLEGE GRADUATE interested in MED/PA/NP SCHOOL*

Must be pleasant on the phone, well versed with computers, good at multi-tasking, mature, self-motivated, honest, and a team player. PRIOR EXPERIENCE as a medical scribe is encouraged and preferred.

DUTIES: advising patients about their procedures, rounding on patients in the hospital, assisting surgeon with in-office procedures, explaining prescriptions and post-op care with patients, scheduling appointments, documenting medical charts, calling patient pathology reports, answering phones and emails, communicating with biller, keeping office in clean/welcoming/orderly manner.

OPPORTUNITY: learn to interpret pathology reports, conduct a History and Physical, round on hospital patients, and utilize a wide array of medical terminology while observing Operation Room surgeries, in-office consultations and surgeries, and follow-up appointments.

START DATE: We are looking to train and start someone in the next couple of weeks. 

HOURS: 4 days a week, 10-12 hour shifts.
