Events Internship, Spring 2025

We are pleased to offer an outstanding and substantive internship program for the nation’s best and brightest young leaders.

 

At the Chamber, you will obtain a hands-on, meaningful work experience designed to meet your academic and career goals. Our internships offer opportunities in research, writing, database management, policy, communications, and event preparation.

 

During the internship, you will network with colleagues and senior-level executives while participating in educational and professional activities designed to enhance your internship experience. 

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

 

The Chamber Internship Program is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn at the world’s largest business organization. In addition to directly supporting a team in the organization, interns have an opportunity to participate in a variety of programming that will help build professional skills and networks.

 

The Chamber also offers programming each semester intended to provide professional development and networking opportunities for interns. In previous semesters, this has included a resume workshop, professional panel with Chamber experts, leadership luncheons, and more.

This internship is scheduled to run from the week of January 21st to the week of April 21st. This is a hybrid internship, with the in-person component being at our U.S. Chamber of Commerce HQ in downtown Washington, DC. Interns are expected to be in office at least two days a week. Fully remote applicants will not be considered.

 

This is a paid internship, where students may also receive academic credit if they meet the criteria set by their school. The hourly rate for this position is between $17.50 - $18.00 per hour. This hourly rate depends on the candidate's education level.

  • Internship Speaker Series- Learn from senior level leaders at the Chamber about their career journey and how their teams impact the greater work at the Chamber.
  • Networking Events – Connect with managers and senior leadership from across the Chamber as they share tips and tricks learned throughout their careers.
  • Intern Farewell – Celebrate and reflect on your achievements in the program with other interns from the program.

 

DEPARTMENT MATCHING

We are excited to announce that three teams within our Events department are currently seeking interns: Event Operations, Events Content Strategy, & Broadcast Technology Services.

 

Please carefully review the three job descriptions below to determine which team best matches your interests. You will indicate your top department preference in the application.

 

Event Operations

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the nation’s premiere voice for business, and the Chamber’s events team amplifies this voice to reach key stakeholders in Washington, DC, and across the country. Live convenings range from intimate salon dinners to multi-day executive retreats to industry thought leadership tentpole events. Across the year, we execute 2,500+ meetings and events gathering 65K+ business and policy leaders. As an Event Operations Intern, you will assist in planning and coordinating events, manage logistics and vendor relations, support event material development, handle attendee communications, and collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless event execution.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of events, including logistics, scheduling, and vendor management.
  • Support the development and distribution of event materials, such as invitations, agendas, and promotional content.
  • Coordinate event registration and manage attendee communications.
  • Help with on-site event setup, execution, and teardown.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Maintain event databases and track key metrics for reporting purposes.

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated curiosity, innovation, and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to addressing issues promptly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with event planning software and tools is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

 

Events Content Strategy

The Content Strategy team is responsible for ideating, developing, and executing main programmatic content for the U.S. Chamber’s most high-profile events. The Content Strategy Intern will learn the inner-workings of how content-driven programs for Chamber events are developed and have the opportunity to support content producers in the development of event agendas, associated creative elements, and the overall production process.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside producer and client teams to pitch ideas and develop program concepts for an event.
  • Project research, gathering information for producer and client team.
  • Draft Run of Show documents; proof on-stage visuals for accuracy
  • Print and distribute essential documents on the day of events including agendas and scripts.
  • Draft and send memos to speakers.
  • Manage speakers in the green room, and escort them to stage.
  • Assist in drafting speaker invitations and thank you notes.
  • Assist in writing marketing materials for events.

Broadcast Technology Services

The US Chamber Broadcast Technology Services department provides audiovisual and broadcast support for over 1,000 in-person, hybrid, and virtual programs hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce annually. The Broadcast Technology Services Intern will provide hands-on technical event support across various meeting spaces, including main stage productions in the Great Hall, within a dynamic hybrid live event environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage audio mixing, mic'ing, and stage operations for speakers.
  • Operate and shade cameras, including robotic cameras.
  • Oversee virtual speaker management for webcasts.
  • Edit and cut multimedia clips for diverse social media platforms.
  • Support internal meetings by identifying, setting up, and operating audio/video equipment, and assisting participants.
  • Receive training on the operation of TV broadcast studios located at headquarters.

Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years of experience in corporate video, lighting or audio systems, entertainment broadcast or live concerts, and/or other production-tech fields like houses of worship or television.
  • Proficiency in handling multimedia and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, innovation, and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to addressing issues promptly.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving, and dynamic work environment, actively engaging in collaboration with colleagues.

This internship requires US work authorization and is open to candidates with Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and/or Optional Practical Training (OPT).
