Embark Summer 2025 Intern - Financial Services Product Management

What you'll do... :

H&R Block, the world’s leader in tax preparation services, is looking for exceptional students in the Product Management, Project Management, and Business Administration spaces for Embark, our Summer Internship Program. As an intern, you will work at our corporate headquarters in the premier downtown Power & Light District of Kansas City, where everything is either steps or a streetcar ride away.

Our office offers an onsite fitness gym and Starbucks, an awesome company dining room, free parking, and more. At H&R Block, we provide college students real-life work experience that directly correlates to their field of study while making a valuable contribution to our organization.
 
Embark is an 11 week paid internship experience from May 19, 2025 - August 1, 2025. 

  • A housing stipend is provided for those living more that 50 miles from the KC Metro
  • Compensation is $25/hour
  • Paid PTO from June 30th  - July 4th for H&R Block's Annual Reboot Week


Day to day you'll ...

Throughout the 11 week internship, under the guidance of a leader, some of the internship responsibilities will include:

  • Work to obtain understanding of the industry for consumer financial services applications through desk research and participation in webinars and other sources.
  • Maintain and prioritize the squad backlog to balance new feature development, continuous improvement of existing features, and infrastructure updates.
  • Regularly analyze and report on performance of features and experiences managed by the squad.

Define product enhancements to tax topics and other product functional areas as assigned.

Initiate and plan product deliverables working closely with design and IT to document requirements, control and report on scope, schedule, quality, costs, resources and risks.

Ensure client satisfaction goals are met or exceeded.

Establish and nurture relationships with consumers, as well as internal product sponsors, stakeholders, and cross-functional team members.

Product results that are in alignment with business objectives


Throughout the 11 week internship, as a part of the Embark program, interns will also participate in workshops and events that align with the program's four pillars:

  • Professional Development: includes the basics for a professional role, everything from using Microsoft Office to setting up a Teams meeting and giving a presentation.
  • Giveback: involves participating in Make Every Block Better community service events. The goal is to teach the importance of community, make an impact, and provide bonding time for teams.
  • Networking: entails meeting various executives with offices at H&R Block’s headquarters, having lunch with directors and vice presidents, spending time with a mentor and getting to know people beyond their assigned department.
  • Connected Culture: is meant to be fun and teach the importance of working hard and playing hard. H&R Block might take the interns to a Kansas City Royals game or facilitate other competitions meant to be fun or instill teamwork.

 

What you’ll bring to the team… :

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Seeking to obtain a degree in Business Administration, Business Management/Entrepreneurship, Communication Studies, or some similar discipline with a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team and independently
  • Highly motivated, organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Quick learner and not afraid to work with new computer-based programs and databases
  • Ability to be effective and contribute in a fast-paced corporate environment

Work Experience:

  • No previous work experience necessary
