General Summary
This position is responsible for assisting in the planning, developing, coordinating and managing onsite construction engineering activities for Mechanical and Electrical systems for construction projects, varying in size from $5M to $150M, to ensure quality and cost effectiveness.
Essential Job Accountabilities
- Manage project engineering activities to ensure compliance with company, contract and schedule requirements.
- Provide technical support in construction planning, quality control, interpretation of design, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, and constructability reviews to ensure successful job completion.
- Develop, implement and administer project engineering procedures and other work controlling documents to ensure clarification of roles.
- Represent company, project and/or department during client and project management meetings to ensure effective communication.
- Develop and maintain all job reporting and logs to ensure project compliance.
- Supervise, direct, and mentor project staff to ensure individual development and that project standards are met.
- Manage job controls to ensure compliance with contract, budget, schedule, forecasting and job costing.
- Able to prepare shop drawing and 3D BIM models for HVAC, Fire Sprinkler, Plumbing system.
- Able to do MEP clash detection either manually or using software.
- Provide layout in the field and verify installation accuracy/correctness.
- Quantity take off and buyout of mechanical/plumbing equipment and piping.
- Coordination of all activities and the exchange of information with the project team, subcontractors, and owner’s consultants or representatives to facilitate resolution of mechanical and electrical issues.
- Evaluate vendor product information, submit to client, and track all equipment, material and shop drawing submittals and coordinate MEP work with all trades
- Prepare and manage the contract items list for all mechanical and electrical components, materials, and systems to ensure that approvals for all items coincide with scheduled delivery and Required On Job (ROJ) dates.
- Participate in development of a project schedule for mechanical and electrical work packages to ensure work is completed on time and under budget.
- Participation in project walkthroughs with mechanical and electrical trade partners to confirm MEP work is completed in accordance with contract drawings, shop drawings and manufacturer requirements
- Assist trade partners in evaluating problems and developing solutions for issues with the contract mechanical and electrical systems.
- Provide support to the project management team during execution of project closeout including: start-up, testing, commissioning, closeout, development and review operations and maintenance (O&M) manuals, warranties planning, training, and obtaining spare parts and specialty tools that contribute to the successful acceptance of all systems.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
Work Experience
Minimum 5-8 years of construction estimating support, engineering, field management, or similar experience.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Auto CAD, Autodesk REVIT or similar BIM experience, and Primavera Scheduling software.
Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology within the MEP field, codes, standards, etc. plus an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines.

Base Salary Range:
$78,413.00 - $117,619.00
Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
