Community Engagement & Marketing Internship
As a Community Engagement & Marketing Intern at ECO, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of marketing within public sector and for youth and adult outdoor education and recreation programs. This internship is designed to provide you with practical skills while contributing to meaningful projects that drive our organization's growth and impact. Intern requires excellent organizational and communication skills. The ability to work in a team and individually is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software package and general computer skills required. Hours are flexible, we do have a work space in our office.
Responsibilities
Social Media Management and Content Creation
- Develop and manage a content calendar for all social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok)
- Create engaging, platform-specific content that aligns with ECO's brand voice and mission
- Design visually appealing graphics, infographics, and short videos using tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software
- Write compelling captions that educate, inspire, and call followers to action
- Implement and track social media campaigns to increase engagement and followers
- Monitor social media trends and suggest innovative ways to leverage them for ECO's benefit
- Engage with followers by responding to comments and messages in a timely manner
- Analyze social media metrics and prepare monthly reports on performance and growth
Content Marketing
- Write and edit blog posts on environmental topics, ECO initiatives, and sustainable living tips
- Develop content for ECO's monthly newsletter, including curating articles and writing original pieces
- Collaborate with subject matter experts within the organization to create accurate and informative content
- Optimize all content for SEO, ensuring proper use of keywords, meta descriptions, and tags
- Create and maintain a content repository for easy access and repurposing of materials
Email Marketing
- Assist in designing email templates that align with ECO's branding
- Help segment email lists for targeted campaigns
- Draft engaging email copy for various campaigns, including event promotions, fundraising initiatives, and educational series
- Analyze email marketing metrics and suggest improvements for better open rates and click-through rates
Website Content Management
- Update and maintain ECO's website content using our content management system
- Create landing pages for specific campaigns or events
- Ensure all website content is up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with current initiatives
Event and Campaign Support
- Assist in creating marketing materials for ECO events, workshops, and campaigns
- Help manage online event registrations and attendee communications
- Create post-event content, including blog posts, social media recaps, and thank-you emails
Analytics and Reporting
- Use tools like Google Analytics, social media insights, and email marketing platforms to gather data on marketing efforts
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on key performance indicators across all digital platforms
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve marketing strategies
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree OR career in Marketing, Communications, Environmental Studies, or a related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in social media platforms and basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
- Experience with content management systems and email marketing platforms (preferred)
- Basic understanding of SEO and digital marketing principles
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Creativity and willingness to think outside the box
- Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights)
- Experience with social media management and content creation.
