DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Fiscal Assistant pre-audits travel expense reports submitted to the Bureau of Commonwealth Payroll Operations (BCPO), which requires the accurate interpretation of Commonwealth travel regulations. You will assist with reviewing and pre-auditing high risk areas on travel expense reports for priority and non-Commonwealth employees. Communication is key as you will be handling inquiries from agency employees and agency travel arrangers. This includes communicating with personnel regarding travel expenses via telephone and/or email to clarify claims based on the interpretation on Commonwealth travel regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
  • An associate degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits in accounting; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training. 
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
