Department Description:

The Flow Cytometry Cellular Biomarkers team is part of the Biomarker and Bioanalytical Platforms (BBP) department within Precision Medicine. Our primary focus is to deepen our understanding of the immunological profiles of patients participating in clinical trials, employing advanced technologies such as spectral flow cytometry.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team. The successful candidate will:

  • Gain experience in the precision medicine specialty area, including infectious disease, respiratory, and oncology.
  • Develop hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, working with human specimens, particularly human whole blood.
  • Deepen their understanding of immunology and flow cytometry related-techniques.
  • Help improve methods for handling, processing, and storing patient samples Support Principal Scientist with data analysis and presentation to stakeholders.
  • Network within GSK Precision Medicine Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a BS (Seniors only), MS, or PhD in Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, or related disciplines.
  • Has previous lab experience from either industrial or academic research environments.
  • Is comfortable working with human fluids, such as whole blood.
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 6-month co-op (January ~ June 2025).
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with flow cytometry
  • Cell culture/aseptic technique
  • Knowledge of immunology
  • Flexibility and proactivity
  • Strong interest in the pharmaceutical industry and precision medicine
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

Benefits:

  • While GSK embraces a flexible work environment, we do require certain positions to be onsite. Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position.
