IU Indianapolis Campus Ambassador

Position Title: Campus Ambassador (Undergraduate)

Office: IUI Office of Undergraduate Admissions (Campus Visits and Experiences) 

Hourly Wage: $13/hr 

 

CAMPUS VISITS AND EVENTS OVERVIEW 

Campus Visits and Experiences (CVE) is a subunit of the IUI Office of Undergraduate Admissions. In CVE, we provide campus visitation programs for prospective students and guests. We showcase the IUI campus, academic programs, student life, and community life. We play a vital part in a prospective student’s decision-making process.

CAMPUS AMBASSADOR PURPOSE 

The Campus Ambassador position is designed to promote IUI and build relationships with prospective students and guests. You do this through the process of storytelling; relaying accurate information about IUI; and engaging your guests in conversation. You will be guiding guests in 90–120-minute walking tours of the IUI campus. 

 

As a Campus Ambassador, you are literally the face and voice of IUI.  If selected for the Campus Ambassador position, you will lead campus tours; take part in student panels and act as a campus resource.   

 

Essential Duties 

  • Conduct tours of the IUI campus, showcasing IUI and engaging with prospective students and guests about IUI (campus layout, academic majors, student services, college life, etc.). Tours are a combination of scripted knowledge and your own student experiences/stories
  • Take part in student panel discussions.
  • Take part in workshops/meetings, service-learning projects, professional development and ongoing training.

 

Specific Duties 

  • Represent IUI in a positive and professional manner.
  • Greet visitors with a smile and a positive attitude.
  • Establish and build relationships with prospective students and guests.
  • Responsible for interacting one-on-one with prospective students and guests.
  • Establish rapport; assess and address needs and interact positively with prospective students and guests.
  • Assist staff with individual projects and special events.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS 
 
Time Commitment 

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Must have work availability during office hours – Monday-Friday - 9-5 and some Saturdays 9-3pm are required.

Education 

  • Must be currently enrolled at IUI in an undergraduate program.
  • Must be enrolled in classes during the fall semester and spring semester.
  • Must maintain a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

Payment: Work Study (highly preferred) or Hourly Pay 

Work Hours:  On average, a fully trained ambassador works between 4-18 hours a week.

Average length of training: Training will take between 4-6 weeks to complete.
