Role Overview: Editorial Volunteer - Various opportunities to suit your interest.

As a volunteer at Atomic Academia, you will have the opportunity to engage in a range of editorial responsibilities that match your skills and interests. Whether you're enthusiastic about writing, editing, research, design, or outreach, this role allows you to contribute meaningfully to our mission in a way that suits you best. Meetings are remote and online.

Below are examples of teams you could work within:

Content Creator

• Create concise, engaging short-form articles based on academic research.
• Translate complex concepts into accessible language suitable for a broader audience.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to maintain our atomic style.

Editor

• Review and edit articles for clarity, grammar, and adherence to editorial guidelines.
• Provide constructive feedback to writers to help refine and polish content.
• Ensure that all content is factually accurate and aligned with our mission.

Research Assistant

• Support content creation by sourcing and summarising key insights from academic papers.
• Fact-check articles and ensure that all referenced data is accurate and up-to-date.
• Assist in identifying new research topics and trends relevant to our audience.
• You could write peer-reviews or literature reviews.

Design and Media Specialist

• Develop visuals, infographics, and other media that complement and enhance our articles.
• Work with the editorial team to ensure that visual content aligns with our editorial standards.
• Contribute to the design of promotional materials for social media and other platforms.

Social Media and Outreach Coordinator

• Promote our content on social media platforms, engaging with our audience to expand reach.
• Help develop strategies to increase engagement and drive traffic to our publications.
• Monitor social media trends and analytics to optimise our outreach efforts.
