We are currently looking for a Paint New Model Engineering Intern to join our team in Smyrna, TN. You will be supporting New Model Engineers by working with cross functional teams to prepare the plant for a new model introduction. This includes following up with Robot programmers, maintenance staff, manufacturing team members and external contractors to ensure that projects are completed in time to begin trials of the new model in the Smyrna facility. 

 

A Day in the Life:   

  • Collaborate with other engineers and related department members to provide data-driven solutions to new and/or ongoing technical issues and/or work on the development of new tools and equipment to support new vehicle introductions. 
  • Assist with Plant facility preparation of introducing a New Model in the paint process.
  • Production Aid development for jigs used to assist in painting a new model
  • Design Feedback on new Model Structure /Work with the engineers to document concerns into 1 pagers for feedback to design for future models.
  • 3D printing Prototype Jigs/Work with the engineers on the team to update designs and 3D print production aids for creating 2-tone break lines on a new model and evaluate emblem jigs and improvements to durability due to material selection and stiffening beads.

 

Who We’re Looking for: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or chemical engineering
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Ability to perform work onsite in Smyrna, TN
