Postdoctoral Fellow - Post Docs, GAs and Hourly Employees

Summary of Job Duties:

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct research directed towards advancing the state of soil information on US Tribal Lands. These projects include: a) Using thermal imaging to identify water loss and improve water management on Southwestern U.S. Tribes for addressing climate change; b) develop and deliver crop suitability maps based on spatially precise soil property predictions; and, c) develop remotely and proximal sensed electrical conductivity and soil salinity maps for improved soil health; and, d) integrate traditional ecological knowledge into remote sensing products.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD. in Soil Science, Biological Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, Remote Sensing, Geography, or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education, conferred by the start of employment

 

Preferred  Qualifications:

Extensive remote sensing experience and a strong data analysis background

Experience working with evapotranspiration data, remote sensing data related to soil-water research (thermal, multispectral, and hyperspectral), and general GIS experience
