Student Tutor - STEM Subjects

Position: Student Tutor – STEM Subjects (STRONG NEED FOR BIOLOGY TUTOR)

Location: BARC Tutoring Center, Wyly Tower 225 
Hours: Up to 20 hours per week, flexible scheduling around classes, some weekends
Pay Rate: $7.25/hr.

About the Position:
We are seeking dedicated and knowledgeable student tutors to join our team at the BARC Tutoring Center. Our focus is on supporting students in STEM subjects. Tutors will work one-on-one or in small group settings to assist their peers with coursework, homework, and exam preparation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tutoring support in STEM subjects
  • Work with students to clarify concepts, review class materials, and prepare for exams.
  • Assist with developing study strategies and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain a confidential, friendly, supportive, and professional environment.

Qualifications:

  • Second Year Student who has earned an A in the course(s) you wish to tutor.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics clearly.
  • A positive attitude and a desire to help peers succeed academically.

Application Process: We are accepting applications for tutoring in ALL STEM disciplines. THOSE SEEKING TO TUTOR IN BIOLOGY WILL BE STRONGLY CONSIDERED based on current need.

Louisiana Tech University Student Employment Guidelines

Students must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible for  

student employment. Half time enrollment is defined as 4 hours for  

undergraduates or 3 hours for graduates. Students who drop below  

half-time will no longer be eligible for student employment and must  

cease working.
 

Students must have an overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduates and a 3.0  

for graduates during their employment. Students without a college GPA  

such as first time freshmen must have an ACT Composite score of 20 or  

higher at time of employment.
 

Students may work a maximum of 20 hours a work week, and are not  

allowed to work during scheduled class times.
 

Student workers will generally be allowed to hold only one job at a  

time during an academic year (ex:  FWS, Graduate Assistantship,  

Regular Funds).
 

New student workers must have valid identification documents  

(non-expired passport or driver’s license and social security card).

 

International students must have a current passport, I-94, and social  

security card.
