Engineering Intern TA for Arduino LEGO robot or 3D printing classes in Columbus, OH

Exciting Internship Opportunity for Engineering Students: Hands-On Robotics and Programming!

This is a unique chance for engineering students to gain real-world experience in robotics, programming, and mechanical design. The position involves teaching students in our engaging, in-person (Columbus, Ohio area) Robotics classes, primarily focused on working with LEGO robots.

In addition to teaching, you’ll contribute to special projects at our Dublin office, including:

  • Building and optimizing servos for our robots
  • Creating custom robot kits
  • Designing innovative lesson plans
  • Enhancing SEO strategies
  • Producing video curriculum

This part-time role is available for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, with the potential to extend through Summer 2025. It offers valuable, hands-on experience relevant to future engineering careers, all while making a meaningful impact.

Hours: Most classes are after-school at the Upper Arlington schools (near OSU) from 2:45 pm to 4:30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Dublin Schools 3:45 to 4:45 pm Wednesday and Friday. We ask that an intern is available for at least one after-school class a week is required.  Monday afternoon is especially needed.  A car is needed to drive to the schools.

Compensation $20 per hour.

Qualifications:

• Enjoy teaching kids, age 5 to 12, about science and technology

• Availability when kids are out of school (Saturdays, and/or after-school). Schedule varies and you don't need to be available for all classes. Transportation is required.

• Ability to demonstrate/explain ideas to students using Lego pieces and programming code without accidentally overstepping and completing activities for the students

• Preferred Skill but not required: Experience with LEGO, robots, 3D Printing, and/or Arduino boards. Experience with Scratch, Python and/or Arduino C programming languages preferred but not required.
