Process Engineer Co-op

Process Engineer Co-op

As a Process Engineer Co-Op, you will complete project work under the direction of a Process Engineer. Co-Ops will support the various production departments (Pulp, Paper, Environmental, Utilities) in process optimization and engineering support, which may include but not limited to working on reducing operating costs, conducting data analysis, increasing production capacity and reducing process variability. This position also works closely with the Project Engineering and Process Control groups on new system design.

Typical activities include:

  • Reviewing existing data to see if more research and information needs to be collected
  • Designing, installing and commissioning new production equipment, monitoring, modifications and upgrades as well as troubleshooting existing processes
  • Assessing the safety and environmental impact of proposed projects
  • Managing costs and time constraints of projects
  • Selecting, managing and working with contractors
  • Working closely with Senior Engineers to monitor and improve the efficiency, capacity and safety of the mill
  • Collecting and interpreting data from other Technical and operating staff in the mill

Basic Qualifications:

Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in Paper Science or Chemical Engineering.

Ability to build sound relationships with both internal and external customers.

Ability to exhibit excellent written, communication, analytical, organizational, and computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, AutoCAD and Project).

Capable of independently making sound decisions through creative problem-solving.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.

Ability to read and understand technical correspondence, memos, instructions, and reports.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Must possess a valid driver's license.
