Overview
Are you ready to embark on an exciting career journey and develop a robust foundation in government auditing and consulting services? Join BerryDunn as a Government Consulting Intern under our Government Assurance Practice Group in our Compliance and Risk Management Practice. This internship offers an opportunity to work with state and local government clients across the country.
This spring internship is based in our Portland, ME headquarters or our Waltham, MA office, and will run from January 7, 2025 - April 11, 2025.

You Will
Receive Training & Development:
Our comprehensive training program provides both technical and soft skills training, as well as an introduction to the firm’s systems, operations, and procedures including:
- CaseWare Electronic Workpapers Software
- Internal Office Procedures
Additional Opportunities:
- Develop an understanding of client businesses by working on a project team.
- Develop an understanding of the general consulting process.
- Gain experience in consulting engagements of all sizes by conducting research, assisting with detailed and technical aspects of the engagement, documenting the engagement and assisting with engagement reporting.
- Learn how to assist the engagement lead with the following tasks:
- Planning and preparing for engagements.
- Monitoring and tracking project action items, issues, risks, and decisions.
- Assist in compliance testing for programmatic audits
- Work in a fast-paced environment alongside skilled professionals
- Identify and document task issues and progress in a timely and organized manner.
- Develop data analysis skills.
- Develop skill in written and verbal communications.
- Access learning and development resources to build your foundational career toolkit.
- Act as an ambassador to prospective interns from your university.

Additional Requirements:
- Currently enrolled as a student or recently graduated from a degree program, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Public Health or a related business program
- Available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week with a minimum of five hours per work day
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Strong analytical, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Compensation Details
The base hourly rate for this role is $28.00 an hour. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
