Grounds Worker I
OVERVIEW:
To perform grounds keeping duties as required by district standards; to maintain the cleanliness and safe conditions of a school environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor; must have a valid Arizona driver’s license
- Knowledge in the use and care of grounds equipment and supplies preferred
- Knowledge in all phases of landscape installation and maintenance preferred
- Knowledge and experience in proper and safe use of grounds supplies and equipment
- Knowledge in the preparation and layout of athletic fields helpful
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, employees and school staff
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install new and maintain established and existing landscaped areas (mow, trim, prune, fertilize and water turf, plants, shrubs, and trees)
- Install, overseed, fertilize and maintain athletic fields
- Program and perform maintenance on manual and automated irrigation systems
- Apply fertilizers and soil amendments as required or instructed
- Operate and maintain all necessary grounds equipment to provide an appropriate level of landscape maintenance
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Maintain accurate inventory records to determine supply and equipment requirements
- Retrieve and compile information as required from usage of products
- Assist, as directed by supervisor, in special landscape projects and events
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
