Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Electrophoretic Separations Postdoctoral Research Associate to perform laboratory-based research and development in the areas associated with critical materials separations based on the use of electrophoretic and electrochemical methodologies and processes for our Materials Separations and Analysis group. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. You will report to the Project Investigator of the project.
You will have a strong technical background in critical materials, chemical separations, electrochemical separations, electrophoretic separations, inorganic chemistry, and metal-complexation reactions. You will also have skillsets including being a self-initiator, able to design experiments, identify funding opportunities, independently generate ideas, be able to socialize those ideas, write proposals, and be able to publish results during harvesting of research data.
Responsibilities Include:
- Work independently, but also be a strong asset to an established R&D team, to communicate effectively and frequently both internally to other technical staff and externally to customers and the scientific community at scientific conferences, to achieve specific project goals on multiple projects within the same area of study, and to be a team player.
- Expectation to be self-motivated, or take direction from other team members and peers, maintain currency in relevant scientific literature, demonstrate a strong commitment to safe laboratory practices, and perform all work in an environmentally safe and compliant manner.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Ph.D. requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years
- Fluency in the English language with exceptional oral and written communication skills
Desired Requirements:
- Experience with capillary electrophoresis (CE) for metal separations
- Working knowledge of basic electrochemistry principles
- Working knowledge of metal-ligand complexation behavior
- Working knowledge of physical chemistry concepts
Job Information:
- The pay for this position is $96,900.00 Annually. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
