Civil-Highway Intern

AECOM is seeking a Civil-Highway Intern in the Newark, DE office for the Spring 2025 Semester .

Join and learn from an experienced team of civil engineers while working on small to large-scale transportation projects in Delaware and the Greater Pennsylvania areas. As an Engineering Intern, you will be assigned design tasks that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

This position is expected to begin for the Spring 2025 Semester.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Design of roadway geometry, traffic control, and signing and pavement markings.

Computer-Aided Design production.

Quantities and cost estimates.

Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a related field with the intent to continue after the internship unless graduating.

Candidates must have completed one year of study in their program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient in MS Office Suite.

OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD familiarity.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrate effective time management, task prioritization, and strong interpersonal skills.

Valid U.S. Driver’s License preferred to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices when public transportation is not available.

This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in Newark, DE. The selected candidate must be available to work in Newark, DE on a scheduled basis.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $19.00/hour - $26.00/hour.
