The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Community Partnership Specialist.

Position Overview

Under general direction, this position will serve as a team leader and coordinator of community outreach for employment recruitment staff.  The position will establish long range goals and objectives for community outreach initiatives to ensure the Department achieves and maintains an adequate applicant pool.  This position will develop and maintain an ongoing awareness of recruitment opportunities throughout the state and coordinate scheduling to ensure DCFS representation at those events.  In addition, the position will independently represent the Department at various recruitment functions, job fairs, career days, college and university workshops, and Department of Employment Security workshops to promote employment with the Department.  This position provides a great opportunity for an energetic, motivated individual who is interested in working to ensure that DCFS develops and maintains effective relationships with community partners to enhance the Department’s ability to develop a strong pool of employment candidates.  DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and effective leadership skills.  We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.

Essential Function

  • Serves as Community Partnership Specialist in the Office of Employee Services
  • Establishes and maintains effective professional networks and public relations with both public and private organizations, officials, and other state agencies regarding recruitment efforts to effectuate the successful recruitment of qualified individuals for vacancies within DCFS
  • Confers with Personnel Managers regarding possible qualified candidates, providing education and background information
  • Prepares reports and correspondence related to interviewing and recruitment activities and issues
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college
  • Requires two years of professional human resources experience

Specialized Skills

  • Of the previously noted years of experience, requires that the experience include employment recruitment and/or marketing

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of direct employment recruitment experience for a public or business organization
  • 2 years of experience developing marketing strategies for a public or business organization
  • 1 year of experience conducting training in a public or business organization

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to pass a background check.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends
  • This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567 (c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds
