Deputy Warden Support Services

Position Summary:  

Responsible for all aspects of the Support Services department for Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF). This includes food service, laundry operations, library, chaplaincy services, volunteer programs, activities, mailroom processes and all resident communication services. Develop and maintain relationships with contract partners providing food service and communication services at the facility. Regularly assess gaps/needs in the support services department and develop strategies to address the needs identified. Ensure that all services are delivered in a way to support the overall security of the facility services division. Maintain close relationships with other Deputy Warden in the future planning efforts related to Support Services. Provides planning guidelines and internal policy direction for areas of responsibility.

 

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Oversee the contracts related to resident communication, including phones, tablets, music and video visitation. Work closely with the contract staff to identify and address any issues related to these services. Ensure services are working appropriately and any issues are addressed quickly.
  • Oversee the food service contract. Work closely with the LCF Food Service Director to monitor and address issues related to the food service contract. Serve as the liaison to the contractor for the rest of LCF Leadership Team.
  • Oversees areas providing support services to the LCF, such as laundry, library, chaplaincy and the mailroom. Continuously assess the operations of each area to identify any gaps/needs and develop strategies to address the needs identified.
  • Oversees the volunteer and activity services available for LCF. Work closely with staff and community volunteers/partners to develop and maintain an adequate level of activities, volunteer-led groups/programs and self-help groups/programs. Develop strategies to expand opportunities to occupy idle time for the resident population.
  • Oversees resident Disciplinary Administrator/department to ensure compliance with regulations and appropriateness. Oversees the resident grievance and property loss and personal injury claims procedures.
  • Oversees the LCF Maintenance Department to include Capital Improvement Planning and the five (5) year plan. Oversees maintenance of the LCF Camera Surveillance System.
