Our patent-pending technology, developed with the support of veterinary experts, enables the identification of abnormal symptoms in pets using smartphones. As a Backend Developer Intern at WoafMeow, you will gain hands-on experience in developing innovative backend services that enhance the health and wellbeing of pets. You will work alongside our talented team of engineers and developers, contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of our backend infrastructure using FastAPI, OpenAI, Firebase, and MongoDB. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical skills in a real-world setting while learning from industry experts and making a meaningful impact on pet care. Furthermore, you will also have the opportunity to learn and apply the latest technology in AI such as RAG, fine-tuning, model-cost optimization, etc

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development: Assist in the development and enhancement of backend services using FastAPI, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.

Collaboration: Work closely with senior developers, product managers, and designers to understand project requirements and contribute to the implementation of new features.

Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.

Testing and Debugging: Participate in the testing and debugging of backend services, identifying and resolving issues to improve performance and reliability.

Learning and Growth: Take advantage of learning opportunities, including code reviews, pair programming, and mentorship from experienced team members.

Documentation: Assist in documenting development processes, API specifications, and project updates.

Requirements

Educational Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

• Experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with OpenAI API, Firebase, and MongoDB.
• Proficiency in Python and understanding of RESTful API design.
• Experience with LLM, Whisper, and other modern ML products

Project Experience: Previous experience with backend projects, either through coursework, personal projects, or internships.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through technical challenges.

Communication: Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Passion for Technology and Pets: A genuine interest in backend development and a passion for improving pet care through technology.

Additional Information

Location: This internship position is remote.

Duration: The internship duration is flexible, with a minimum commitment of 3 months - 6 months.

Time: 10-15 hours per week.
