Weekly Commitment: This internship requires a commitment of 20-25 hours per week during spring and fall semesters (40 hours per week during the summer semester) providing a balance for students to dedicate time to their academic studies while gaining practical experience.
Internship Description
The ideal IWP Media Internship candidate is actively working toward a career in the multimedia environment that covers a wide range of end-products (video, film, podcast, digital publishing, etc.) and wants to gain and deepen hands-on experience with all stages of production. We do a lot of diverse and fun stuff - boredom is not an option!
Our content is not only fascinating but also important to our school's mission. We tell stories critical to U.S. national security. Our production standards always aim to match that importance, whether it is a podcastseries, a coursevideo, or a 1-minute promo. Therefore, you will be asked to contribute creatively as well as technically. Some of the work you will be involved in will end up in your professional portfolio.
Ideal Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a student in a relevant academic program.
- Must provide a demo reel.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to commit to a 20-25 hour per week internship schedule.
- All applicants must provide a reel/portfolio of their work for review
- Intermediate (or better) proficiency with Premiere Pro
- Intermediate proficiency with Adobe After Effects, InDesign, and Adobe Audition (or willingness to get up to speed... speedily)
- Onset film experience and knowledge of basic cinematography, sound recording, lighting, and grip work
- EXCELLENT ATTENTION TO DETAIL
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Flexibility to adapt to variousmultimedia project requirements and deadlines
- Ability and willingness to continue to upskill to new tools (e.g., AI-based)
- Flexible time availability to accommodate production schedules
