  • Deep learning methods development,
  • Probabilistic modeling,
  • Active learning, and
  • Application to materials discovery.

ML/AI and adaptive data acquisition continue to impact scientific research domains across the renewable energy space and are becoming increasingly important for scientific discovery. Research is needed at both fronts, fundamental developments of AI and sampling, and AI’s application to specific domain problems.

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated researcher with a strong technical background and broad experience in AI, in particular deep learning and probabilistic models as well as active learning for data acquisition.

The successful candidate will collaborate with NREL staff and researchers, and other national labs to develop, adapt, improve and scale AI algorithms to address problems arising in materials discovery in support of NREL and EERE mission and goals.

Job duties include:

· Collaborate with NREL researchers to design and implement scalable AI algorithms and their deployment on HPC systems.

· Deploy AI and active learning algorithms for materials discovery.

· Author, present and assist in the preparation of technical papers, reports and conference proceedings on topics related to AI, active learning, materials discovery, and its applications on HPC.
