Component Engineer Intern

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Component Engineer Intern in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting Component Engineers or component supply chain activities.

Essential Functions

  • Research/collect component environmental compliance information which would include web searching and contacting suppliers/manufacturers
  • Maintain various component databases
  • Assist team members in compiling information for specification control drawings, in cooperation with Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and suppliers on all component issues, and in component failure analysis and problem resolution
  • Work with suppliers to resolve component problems to identify "root cause" and permanent solutions
  • Perform component evaluations/qualifications
  • Work with Component Engineers to identify/promote the use of preferred components

Basic Qualifications

  • Completed a minimum of 1 year of coursework AND actively enrolled in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another related engineering field
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of all electronic component types
  • Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrates proficiency using IBM-PC systems and applications, including Microsoft Office applications

Desired Qualifications

  • Completed at least 2 years coursework in a BSEE or BSME or equivalent degree program
  • Familiarity with all electronic component types
  • AutoCAD or other Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), International Standards Organization (ISO) 9000, quality standards and best practices
  • Some electronics troubleshooting and repair experience
  • General knowledge of physics and chemistry
