What can you expect?

As the Chemist I, you will utilize your knowledge and experience to synthesize data on environmental projects. Additional duties include providing support for the preparation of work plans, reports, SAPs/QAPPs, and UFP-QAPPs; data validation and data management; communicating with the subcontract laboratory; review of technical documents; and Access database management. Your personal initiative, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills are essential to complete job duties with minimal guidance. Assignments are deadline-driven so must be able to set priorities, take ownership of projects, work efficiently, and provide a consistent level of high quality in a high-pressure environment.

 

How will you do it?

  • Support environmental investigations and assessments in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines and as directed by Project Management staff.
  • Adhere to schedule and financial objectives, controlling time and expenditures to achieve project goals.
  • Work with technical staff in support of project objectives and field operations.
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, and coordination to project staff preparing written project documentation.
  • Evaluate and select data collection methods and procedures to be employed in site surveys and investigations.
  • Actively participate in creating a positive team environment
  • Develop an awareness of the RFP and project planning processes
  • Work with technical staff in support of project objectives and field operations.
  • Develop understanding of safety protocols, standards, and expectations
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the practical application of environmental science and technology.
  • Ability to use scientific rules and methods to solve problems, and logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Access proficiently.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks with directions and mentorship.
  • Ability to build relationships and develop communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and develop positional knowledge.
  • Ability to learn about our business and clients.

 

Who is Brice Engineering looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Studies, or other related discipline required.
  • One to seven years of experience working on environmental projects, or at least one to seven years working in an environmental analytical laboratory.
  • Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Brice Engineering’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screening.
