Real Estate Internship

CEO REAL ESTATE:
The County Executive Office (CEO) Real Estate is the lead division for the County on all real estate matters including, but not limited to acquiring, leasing, constructing, operating, and maintaining County and Flood District-owned and occupied facilities and assets. CEO Real Estate provides information, analysis and recommendations to County leadership to optimize real estate decision making for the benefit of the County. CEO Real Estate thrives on coordinating the activities of the County's many agencies to increase leverage in real estate transactions to obtain the most favorable transactions for the County. CEO Real Estate assists all County agencies and departments in meeting their real estate requirements consistent with applicable laws and ordinances, and real estate best practices.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The goal of the Real Estate Internship is to expose students to the County real estate work and assist in creating a pool of experienced talent from which the larger real estate community could benefit, including the County.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:
 
 

  • Assist with 2D modeling, drawing and configuration for creation of building floor plans and calculation of square footage using Auto CAD software.
  • Use a computer to produce a variety of materials for real estate projects like reports, forms, labels, envelopes, memos, correspondence and requisitions.
  • Perform a variety of general office duties which might include compiling information, calculating data, keeping records, data input and preparing and maintaining files for ongoing real estate projects and transactions.
  • Attending meetings and taking informal minutes for real estate projects.
  • Conduct research and analysis for special assignments or projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of correspondence, real estate documents including leases, licenses, agreements, easements and agenda staff reports.
  • Assist in the relocation process related to County real estate projects.
  • Assist in the preparation spreadsheets related to County real estate projects.
  • Assist with property management functions.
  • Learn to examine and interpret property records.
  • Learn laws, principals and procedures of property acquisition, leasing, development and management related to County real estate projects.
  • Record documents related to County real estate projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This recruitment is open to the public who are currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and working towards earning their Associate's or Bachelors' Degree or have graduated in the last 6 months from an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in the following fields of study; Business Administration, Public Administration, Information Technology, Finance or Real Estate.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of or an interest in real estate, analytical skills, computer skills, experience writing and editing, experience with office machines, detail oriented.  Excel and AutoCAD experience are preferred.

TIME COMMITMENT
Interns will work during regular business hours in the CEO Real Estate office, 12-29 hours per week for a period of 6 months to 1 year, depending on school schedule and workload. Note: this is not a remote internship

REQUIRED BACKGROUND SCREENING/REFERENCE CHECK
Prior to placement, applicants will be required to pass a background investigation, which includes reference checks, as well as Live Scan fingerprinting to the satisfaction of the department.
