Assistant Director of Annual Giving, Philanthropic Programs

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving, Philanthropic Programs will oversee the direction of UF’s recent graduate and young alumni philanthropy programs, UF’s senior class gift program and other revenue-generating programs within Annual Giving, such as the UF license plate program. Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving Programs, the incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and managing recent graduate philanthropy campaigns and related stewardship initiatives, growing the UF license plate program, and reimagining other revenue-generating programs within UF Advancement’s Office of Annual Giving. In collaboration with university partners, this role will build and implement programs to support the university priority of building donor pipeline and increasing philanthropic revenue among alumni, recent graduates, STAT members, and donors. 

Recent Graduate Philanthropy & Stewardship 

  • Build a culture of philanthropy among UF young alumni and recent graduates by implementing philanthropic direct marketing campaigns to help build donor pipeline and increase programmatic revenue, with a focus on UFAA Students Today. Alumni Tomorrow. (STAT) members and senior class giving (MGOL) donors.
  • Execute direct marketing strategies aimed at increasing the conversion rate of student donors into alumni donors, particularly donors who participate in STAT and MGOL.
  • Lead strategy for UF’s senior class giving program, My Gift. Our Legacy. (MGOL) to serve as a resource for lead generation to ensure seniors are engaged and stewarded to grow young alumni philanthropy pipeline.
  • Collaborate with UF Business Services, and UF Advancement DIS and Gifts & Records teams to ensure all My Gift. Our Legacy. donations are processed and booked in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Director of Annual Giving Programs and UF Advancement Donor Relations team to define a donor journey and/or donor life cycle for recent graduates that successfully builds philanthropically engaged young alumni.
  • Develop and execute effective stewardship touchpoints for STAT members with a focus on YOY retention for annual members, engagement for life members, and student-to-alumni member conversion.
  • Implement stewardship and engagement strategies for all MGOL donors.

Annual Giving Programs & STAT Membership

  • Manage and execute the UF License Tag program, in partnership with internal and external partners.
  • Work with the Alumni Relations team to create and execute strategies to increase alumni giving within regional Gator Clubs.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to accelerate UF’s major gift pipeline through revenue-generating Annual Giving programs.
  • Increase STAT memberships by implementing a direct marketing strategy, including appropriate solicitations, to increase program revenue annually.
  • Work with the Assistant Director of Membership and Annual Giving Programs, Alumni Relations and other campus partners to optimize student membership benefits.
  • Oversee and execute the Beat T-shirt program through design collaboration, execute an annual alumni campaign, and partner with Assistant Director of Student Engagement to assist with STAT Beat-T program execution.

Annual Giving Campaigns 

  • Manage and execute the annual giving campaigns for 4-6 unit partners with medium to large sized constituent bases, such as Student Life and Parent Programs within UFA University Initiatives.
  • In partnership with units, plan and execute direct marketing campaigns. Duties include working with graphics team to design packaging and art, determining appropriate segmentation, requesting and managing data based on unit specific needs, drafting copy templates, working with units and communications to finalize and proof all materials, track and monitor progress to make appropriate segment changes, reporting results to units, monitoring expenses in relation to the overall budget and managing mail associated charge backs.
  • Evaluate campaigns to ensure goals are being met.
  • Analyze unit performance and report to units on a regular basis.
  • Maintain unit projects on yearly production calendar for Annual Giving appeals.
  • Lead campus strategies for Student Life college/unit partners to develop and execute Stand up & Holler: Gator Nation Giving Day activities aimed at increasing philanthropy from students and young alumni.

Expected Salary:

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • One to three years of experience in annual giving, membership, direct marketing, or student affairs.
  • Previous experience in development or related fields.
  • Experience developing and implementing special campaigns, particularly those aimed at students.
  • Strong understanding of annual giving in philanthropy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team.
  • Proven skills in project management, time management, and organization.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to integrate both quantitative and qualitative data into decision-making processes.
  • Outstanding communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Demonstrated success working with stakeholders, managing projects, and thriving in a data-driven environment, with strong leadership, motivational, and influencing abilities.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a customer service-oriented approach.
  • Technologically proficient.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, internet browsers, and email.
  • The ability and willingness to travel.  A valid driver license and good driving record are essential.*
