Accounting / Finance Intern

CRST has an exciting opportunity for you to join our Early Talent Program within our summer internship program as an Accounting / Finance Intern. CRST’s Accounting / Finance summer internship program is a great opportunity for first-hand experience in your Accounting / Finance field of interest. You will work on one or more projects that create value for our key internal and external stakeholders. You will have the chance to apply practical applications of accounting classroom concepts. 

Here is what you can expect:

Accounting & Finance:

  • Exposure to accounting concepts, i.e. revenue recognition, matching principle, accrual principle
  • Exposure to accounts receivable and payable transactional accounting
  • Basic understanding of account / P&L structure for large corporation
  • Support and exposure to McLeod ERP system
  • Participate in status meetings and stand-ups

Internal Audit:

  • Exposure to analyzing data and documentation to detect discrepancies, trends or irregularities using analytical tools and methods.
  • Assisting in the review and assessment of the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management by comparing the “as is” state to Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards.
  • Developing workpapers to document the audit work performed under supervision of the audit staff and audit manager.
  • Prepare audit findings and recommendations for improvement with guidance from the audit staff and audit manager.
  • Participate in meetings with key stakeholders within departments under audit to observe and contribute.

Internship Programming:

  • Work with numerous different departments and develop effective communication skills
  • Exposure to Senior Leaders across the business with the opportunity to connect and grow your network
  • Hands on projects related to your major
  • Personal and professional development opportunities
  • Connection to the community in which you are working
  • Present a capstone to Senior Business Leaders at the conclusion of the 8-week period

The Summer Internship Program is where students are exposed to the transportation industry, engaged in real-world problem-solving, and immersed in social and educational opportunities with other interns and leaders across the organization. You will have the opportunity to work hand in hand with different business entities to accomplish company objectives and goals.

Here is what we are looking for:

  • Pursuing a business-related 4-year bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Junior-level college student with a major in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics or similar
  • Minimum 2.5 or above GPA
  • Relevant work experience / internships / related activities (tutor, business fraternity, etc.) preferred but not required
  • Strong technical acumen and desire for a career in Accounting / Finance
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Able to develop alternative solutions and work well in individual and group problem solving situations
  • Self-starter with high personal motivation and desire to take initiative and ownership
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and loyalty
  • Has strong aspirations for future success in business or management
  • Ability to multi-task and problem-solve effectively
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Basic oral and written communication skills
  • Maximizes relationships, fosters collaboration, and builds trust

  • Applicants must be enrolled in undergraduate courses at least the fall semester following the summer internship.
  • Interns who successfully complete the Early Talent Program are considered for full-time positions within CRST upon graduation with additional benefits.
