Cost Accountant
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, with hands-on experience in month-end close, budgeting, and financial reporting. This role will be instrumental in ensuring accurate cost analysis and financial compliance within a manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and company-specific reporting requirements.
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, utilities, and reclassifications.
- Monitor and support the processing of Purchase Orders, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Analyze Greenville-related expenses and generate financial reports for stakeholders.
Manufacturing Cost Management:
- Project monthly cash payments by evaluating PO volumes and payment terms.
- Maintain and review standard costs for the Greenville facility, analyzing variances between actual and expected costs.
- Support cost control initiatives and waste reduction efforts within the manufacturing process.
- Conduct variance analysis related to pricing, materials, and labor.
Inventory Management:
- Manage inventory adjustments and ensure accurate posting of physical counts.
- Calculate and report fully loaded costs for each SKU, including material and item charges.
- Prepare monthly inventory valuation entries and conduct periodic inventory audits.
Fixed Assets:
- Assist in tracking and managing CAPEX projects.
- Support the activation of CAPEX and confirm accurate depreciation entries.
Tax & Compliance:
- Assist with Sales and Use Tax submissions and other incentive programs.
- Support audits conducted by the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR).
- File end-of-year tax forms and surveys.
