HandsOn AmeriCorps VISTA - Public Health Youth Substance Use Community Engagement and Prevention Coordinator

Join the City of Phoenix: Office of Public Health and help launch substance abuse prevention programing in one of the most heavily impacted communities in America! In all age categories, Phoenix leads the county in overdose deaths, and you can help reverse that trend. The selected applicant will build, coordinate, and support an outline for the pilot education program using evidence-based research to advocate and promote youth programs that increase youth engagement and awareness about substance use prevention, engage with coalitions, identify areas for collaboration and partner with local communities to increase school-based engagement for opioid and substance use prevention. The future member should have some background in public health, school-based programing, and/or working with teenage youth engagement. Spanish and/or a knowledge of Phoenix school systems is helpful but not required.
