Crisis Counselor Internship

2024- 2025 Crisis Counselor Internship (900 hours)- PAID

Healthy Minds Alliance is a national mental health workforce development program addressing our nation’s critical shortage of mental health providers.  Healthy Minds Alliance is dedicated to providing students with exemplary opportunities to apply certain competencies acquired in the classroom to a real world environment, under the supervision and direction of experienced staff.   Crisis Counselor Interns are placed with crisis call centers in a remote capacity.  Interns are trained in the center’s designated crisis intervention.  Crisis call centers provide a direct connection to immediate support and resources for anyone in crisis.  Trained Crisis Counselor Interns help individuals experiencing suicidal, substance use, and/or mental health crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress.

Healthy Minds Alliance recognizes the barriers faced by students while trying to meet academic responsibilities and requirements which is why we offer a paid opportunity with additional benefits.  While we welcome all to apply, there are some position specific background stipulations that may apply to certain centers to comply with various regulatory requirements.  Students applying for the Crisis Counselor Internship must have permission from their institution before participating in this program.  For current students interested in this internship, please complete the Healthy Minds Alliance application by selecting “Graduate Student Internship”.
