The California Air Resources Board (CARB), referred to as "The Board", is a dynamic and innovative leader in setting and implementing controls to protect and improve air quality for the citizens of California.  The Board's scientific and technical programs rely extensively on web-based information systems.  The mission of the Office of Information Services (OIS) is to leverage the most effective information technologies available to achieve CARB's program goals.

The IT Operations and Support Branch (ITOSB) is responsible for the implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of the CARB's office automation computer systems and supporting infrastructure. CARB's network, desktop, telecom and enterprise systems support more than 2000 end users in Sacramento, Riverside and other remote sites. ITOSB provides Technical Support services of IT assets; IT communications (service desk, email support, telecom); IT Administration (IT acquisitions, IT training, IT asset management) to all CARB staff. In addition to these roles, ITOSB works closely with the Systems Development and Support Branch (SDSB) and the Security Operations Center (SOC) to successfully and securely deliver mission-critical business applications and support services to CARB programs and external stakeholders.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the position include: support for Riverside staff in their daily tasks, this includes, but is not limited to, responding to Service Desk tickets, analyzing, troubleshooting, documenting solutions, learning with other co-workers, and acting as a liaison between Riverside end users and OIS technical staff.  Assists and analyzes hardware/software problems, upgrade and maintain standard CARB hardware/software, image more complex workstation desktops, maintain more complex hardware/software inventory, perform printer maintenance, pickup/deliver hardware, software, and toner; assist with surveying out old equipment.

CARB is in the process of finalizing a new telework policy and positions may be eligible for telework, or partial telework, subject to the candidate meeting eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.

Working Conditions

 

The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement.

  • Must be able to move/transport IT equipment weighing up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
