Insurance Product Development Intern

Western National Mutual Insurance Company is seeking to expand its Product team by adding a Product Development Intern. Our company growth, combined with our focus on innovation, transformation, and investments in the customer experience are key drivers supporting the expansion of our team. The Product Development Intern will provide support to a variety of projects and initiatives, while playing a key role in our day-to-day operations.

Western National Internship Program Summary:

Western National provides a robust internship program designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry. This program not only offers practical, hands-on opportunities and project work in partnership with our product development team; but interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through a range of professional development activities, cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns, and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.

Position Summary:

As a Product Development intern in our Internship Program, you will be a key contributor to our Product team. Possible tasks that you assist with include:

• Works within standard operating procedures and established practices to provide timely and accurate regulatory filings.
• Keeps accurate and current records in designated systems, updates routine reports, rules, and manuals.
• Identifies and/or analyzes straightforward problems and recommends solutions.
• Appropriately raises concerns and offers solutions to the proper individuals.
• Consistently acts according to our customer experience standards, including responding quickly, maintaining a positive attitude, building rapport, demonstrating empathy, managing the customer’s expectations, using the proper communication channel for the situation, and taking ownership to ensure the customer’s issue is resolved.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• Fluent in spoken and written English required.
• Ability to understand work procedures and follow them.
• Basic knowledge of and ability to use document software and databases.
• Ability to plan, schedule, and organize your work to make effective use of time, materials, equipment, and other resources.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrates ability for ownership of and responsibility for timely task completion.
• Follows through on commitments.
• Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages preferred.
• Two years of college preferred.

Compensation Overview:

The base pay for this position will be $20.00 per hour.
