Surgical Technician

Technician roles are posted at all levels 1, 2, and Senior and will be filled based on skills, certifications, and experience.
The Surgical Technician will engage in surgical support services such as animal preparation, note taking, anesthesia monitoring, study setup, surgical record review, and facilitating surgical staff in completing studies in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner. You will provide technical oversight on assigned surgical studies and work on having point technician duties, including study book preparation and data review for GLP compliance, sterilization and preparation of surgical suites, equipment, and tools, and operation maintenance of surgical equipment. There will be use of anesthesia machines including anesthesia monitoring, assessment of depth, patient monitoring, and vital sign monitoring. This is a non-exempt position that is eligible for overtime after 40 hours in a workweek and has no supervisory responsibility.
A High School Diploma/GED with at least 2 years of experience or an Undergraduate Degree in animal or life sciences with 1 year of experience preferred. Ideally an SRA and/or LAT certification preferred. The ideal candidate will be proficient with Microsoft Office core applications and LIMS data collection and the ability to learn and use additional applications and maintain good written and oral communication skills.
This role will spend approximately 20% of time in an office setting and 80% of time in the laboratory. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There will be handling of and/or exposure to animal tissues and zoonotic organisms. You must have the ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 masks and respirators. Physical activity includes lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying (up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet), pushing/pulling (up to 75lbs force), reaching, gripping/pinching, standing and ascending ladder without restriction and have the ability to spend most of the day standing or walking. Ability to work beyond a typical work schedule including evenings, weekends, extended shifts with short notice.
