Sustainability Intern - Summer 2025

The Role 

The Sun Life U.S. Sustainability team is looking for a proactive, positive, and dynamic intern to support our sustainability strategy. As a member of Sun Life's U.S. Sustainability team, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in corporate environmental and social impact. This is an excellent opportunity to build skills in sustainability and contribute meaningfully to our business objectives.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Conducting research to support aspects of the Sun Life U.S. sustainability strategy

Evaluating competitors’ sustainability performance

Drafting content for internal stakeholder engagement and presentations

Collaborating with other sustainability practitioners within Sun Life

Attending and supporting sustainability meetings on social and environmental impact projects

Independently pursuing a core project during the length of the internship, including research, analysis, interpretation, and preparation and presentation of deliverables to key stakeholders. (Project options will be provided at the start of the internship and selection can be based on candidate interest).

Other duties as assigned

 

Core skill sets needed for this role:

Keen interest in and basic knowledge of one or more aspects of sustainability

Working knowledge of MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Outlook preferred but not required

Excellent research and written communication skills

Proactive, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Highly-motivated, self-driven, focused, strong attention to detail

 

The Candidate

To be eligible for an internship at Sun Life, you must meet the following requirements:

Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university during the time of internship (June 2025 – August 2025)

Must be an undergraduate or graduate student in Sustainability, Business Administration, Public Policy, Public Health, Social Science, or related field of study. Candidates from fields not traditionally represented in sustainability are encouraged to apply.

Eligible to legally work in the United States

Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during Intern session

 

Compensation for this role will be around $22/hour.
