Salary: $15.10 - $30.54 per hour
Summary
Collect and account for fees at various locations interacting with visitors and sharing information. Serve as front-line representative to answer questions and offer guidance to guests.
Likely Entry on Duty: March-July 2025.

Duties
Recreation Fee Clerk & Technician Standard Duties:
- Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc.
- Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds.
Additional duties for GS-04:
- Operate an electronic cash register, computer, or Point of Sale (POS) system to conduct financial transactions; perform opening and closing functions; issue entrance receipts, tour tickets, permits, etc.
- Inventory and/or restock fee program supplies and assist with placing orders and preparing requisition requests for equipment/supplies needed.
Additional duties for GS-05:
- Assist higher level personnel with auditing fee collection program components/systems (e.g. cash registers, road/trail registers, honor systems, automated fee machines or AFMs, donation boxes, etc.); assist in completing audit paperwork and documenting findings; communicate audit results to supervisor.
- Prepare and complete remittance reports and bank deposits for funds donated and/or collected by others. Review shift reports and count funds collected; Investigate and proactively resolve routine or recurring discrepancies, and track overages, shortages, and errors.
Additional duties for GS-06:
- Review and verify the functionality of new fee related systems or modifications to existing systems as a result of regulatory and program requirements.
- Provide informal and formal training and education to employees, partners, volunteers, interns, cooperating association representatives, etc. regarding automated and non-automated fee processes, systems, software programs, tools, etc.
Additional duties for GS-07:
- Serve as a technical authority for the resolution of especially difficult or sensitive problems associated with the collection, remittance, and deposit of fee revenue and donations.
