Reporting to the Manager, Loan Processing, the student will have the opportunity to learn about various Operations functions and take part in initiatives, including but not limited to:

  • Assigns appraisals to contract reviewers and works with them to maintain the adequacy of appraisals to ensure adherence to Farmer Mac’s collateral valuation practices.
  • Reviews title work submitted by sellers and provides guidance per Farmer Mac’s standards.
  • Organizes, tracks, and analyzes Seller communications regarding the completion of appraisal and title deficiency items while providing a high level of customer service to Sellers and Central Servicers to ensure loan turnaround goals are consistently met.

Suitable candidates must be able to balance competing priorities with various deadlines in a high-stakes environment.

The People You Will Work With

The position will work closely with the Manager, Loan Processing as well as other members of the broader Operations team.

Where and When You Will Work

Work may be performed during core business hours, Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m. central time, for a minimum of 10 hours not to exceed 20 hours per week during the semester.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong interest in infrastructure and commercial lending
  • Knowledge of or interest in lending practices
  • Solid MS Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Strong educational record of achievement with an equally strong desire to learn
  • Must be self-motivated and work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to details are a must

Education and Experience

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate junior or senior pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or other quantitative disciplines
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
