Software Engineer Co-Op

Real World Responsibilities: 

During your time with us you will: 

  • Design and develop embedded software that controls complex, safety-critical hydraulic and electrical control systems 
  • Contribute to all aspects of the software development process including specification, development, design reviews and testing 
  • Participate in meetings and presentations, brainstorming ideas and communicating engineering concepts to individuals from all disciplines 

As part of our team, we will: 

  • Provide you with real-work assignments that will provide you valuable experience as you begin your career 
  • Create and improve the next generation of control system for Genie’s family of products 

Must haves: 

  • Currently pursuing an ABET accredited degree in a Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar credited certificate  
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design in C++ or C, including the use of STL 
  • Ability to work full-time for 6 months, part-time for 12 months, or a combination of the two 
  • Ability to work in Redmond, WA or Bothell, WA 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written 

Nice to haves: 

  • Familiarity with GCC, Git and the agile software development process 
  • Understand of the mechanics of real-time embedded operating systems 
  • Familiar with developing and debugging hardware device drivers

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, please apply as soon as possible. Start and end dates are flexible. The compensation for this position is $26/hr for undergraduate interns and $28/hr for graduate or returning interns. This position is eligible for holiday pay.
