Underwriting Corporate Intern - Summer 2025

This program is a 10-week full-time opportunity that provides real work experience with a team in your business area. You will be aligned to projects to lead or contribute to while also participating in networking, development, and career exploration activities. Our Corporate Interns can apply for future full-time roles during the program and have an increased likelihood to receive an offer for a post-graduation role.  The Summer 2025 program will run June 2nd - August 8th, 2025. Virtual onboarding activities will also take place May 28th -30th, 2025.

 

This is a hybrid position with 3 days (generally Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) in one of the following office locations based on your preference: Hartford CT  / Blue Bell PA / Atlanta GA / Chicago IL . The other 2 days each week will be working remotely from home, office, or another location of your choice.  No housing or housing stipend will be provided, but interns will be given the opportunity to connect with each other prior to the start of the program to coordinate housing if desired.

 

The hourly rate is $23/hr with 40 hours/ week, no work on July 4th (company holiday), and two days of paid leave.

Examples of past internship projects include:

  • Price new and existing business with the goal of selling and retaining profitable customers 
  • Act as a strategic partner to support overall management of your book of business 
  • Work with internal partners in sales and account management to negotiate pricing, create benefit plan designs and cross sell additional products/programs in support of our customers 
  • Collaborate with actuarial to refine pricing based on changes in future medical costs, trends and customer specific data 
  • Participate in leadership development opportunities such as networking, solution-focused business projects and career coaching and feedback.

 

Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role. This includes participation in Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and F-1 Visa programs.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Meet educational requirements (see education section) 
  • Have a willingness to relocate to the office locations listed above 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience. Examples include active roles in student or social organization activities, sports, or school or work-related projects 
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word or experience with coding software such as VBA, R, or Python  
  • Prior internship/work experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Possess strong critical thinking and problem resolution skills  
  • Be resourceful and possess the ability to adapt to change  
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance  

 

Education :

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree
  • Have an anticipated graduation date between September 2025 and August 2026
  • Have a major, minor or concentration relevant to the position such as Risk Management & Insurance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics
