Engineering Internship (Fall 2024)

SUMMARY

This is a paid internship starting in Fall 2024, with an expected work schedule of 16-24 hours per week

The Engineering Intern will help the team in day-to-day activities and summer-long projects to help plan, develop, improve, and support assembly processes by growing knowledge in the manufacturing industry principles, initiatives, and compliance. With guidance, the Intern will have the opportunity to suggest product improvements, collaborate with other departments and work on small projects or portions of larger projects. This position will spend time working with all the Engineering Departments during this time, such as Design, Automation, Quality, and Manufacturing.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in key performance metrics, such as safety, internal and external PPM and total cost of quality, on time delivery, and EBITDA
  • Learn and practice lean manufacturing techniques including Material Process/Kanban, Standard Work, and SMED
  • Learn and practice PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Participate in Regal Rexnord Business System (RBS) activities and help guide and direct continuous improvement in all areas of the facility
  • Other special projects

Critical Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, such as Autocad/Solidworks, ISO, etc,
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently
  • Analytical problem-solver; uses technical engineering and quantitative methods to understand problems, design experimental programs, collect and analyze data, and derive practical recommendations and solutions.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Current student at an accredited college
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field
  • 3.0 or better GPA, required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Etc.), required
  • Enrolled in Junior or Senior year, preferred

The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
