The Department of Health Services (DHS), Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) is recruiting for their IT Director.

SWC is a state run, licensed and certified Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IDD). Position Summary

As the IT Director, you will manage and coordinate information systems, security systems, and telecommunications resources.  Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the procurement and distribution of information technology and telecommunication systems for SWC. 
  • Providing local area network support and account administration for over 500 users and applications support for a variety of in-house and commercial off-the-shelf software applications and databases operating on multiple servers. 
  • Supervising assigned information systems staff.
  • Acting as the primary information systems security officer for SWC to ensure reliability of systems, confidentiality of information, and compliance with state-wide standards
  • Collaborating with other facility IT Directors, DHS Bureau of Information Technology Services (BITS), and Division of Enterprise Technology (DET) IT leadership and staff on IT projects and day to day IT operations. 

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $53.00-$57.95 per hour (approximately between $110,200- $120,500 per year) depending upon qualifications, plus excellent benefits.  A 12-month probationary period is required. 

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as an Information Systems Supervisor 2 and is in pay schedule and range 70/02.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience serving in a leadership role (e.g., lead worker, project manager, manager, supervisor) in an IT field or setting (e.g., computer or hardware, telecommunications, security camera, or support and prioritization of software application development, etc.) performing tasks related to providing assistance, coaching, guidance, or training to other staff.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows operating systems, programs, and applications.  
  • Experience working with an Electronic Health Record system and security camera systems.

Well-qualified applicants will also have at least one of the following:

  • Experience working with project managers (e.g., developing project plans, maintaining project timelines, gathering end user requirements, consulting with project team members, user acceptance testing, managing changes related to projects, etc.) 
  • Formal supervisory experience including tasks such as conducting performance evaluations, resolving conflict, assigning/reviewing work of subordinates, interviewing or recommending hiring of staff, etc.  
  • Experience in information technology planning for local and wide area network infrastructure, software applications implementation/upgrades, hardware deployment, printers, security, and/or technical support, etc.
  • Formal education or training in IT (e.g., coursework, certifications, etc.).
