Environmental Studies Intern
The environmental studies intern will help develop and lead various programs with the goal of helping campers connect with nature, gain an understanding of the relationship that exists between the natural world and those who inhabit it. Additionally the intern will contribute towards onsite data collection of local species. Length of internship is 8 weeks, with the option to extend based on school requirements or performance.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate also has youth program experience, understands age-appropriate programming and has participated in or led youth staff training
- Positive attitude and outgoing personality
- Exceptional organizational skills, prioritization and attention to detail
- Display strong interpersonal skills including communication (verbal and written), decision making, relationship-building, and conflict resolution
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Responsibilities
- All responsibilities included in Camp Counselor position description at Camp Arrowhead
- Plan and implement environmental education lessons that are age appropriate to the participants & coincides with the core values of Camp Arrowhead (Grow, Lead, Explore, & Create)
- Assist in cataloging, identifying, marking various native plant/animal species
- Provide a summary of environmental impact factors and offer potential solutions
- Assist/manage habitat restoration projects
