Reporting to the Senior Director - Fixed Income Strategy, the student will have the opportunity to learn about various Finance functions and take part in multiple  initiatives, including but not limited to:

  • Work on project(s) for the Fixed Income Strategy and Marketing team, including Farmer Mac’s Debt Capital Markets (DCM) initiatives, Fixed Income investor relations outreach, and the execution of Salesforce as a customer relationship management (CRM) tool.
  • Assist in ensuring that DDE source data used by Fixed Income Strategy team is captured from the new STARS database
  • Automate and improve Daily Fixed Income Marketing dashboards and updates based on GSE market data issuance and Bloomberg data
  • Coordinate and prepare various data-driven presentations in Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce
  • Collaborate with Data Analytics team to revise and optimize data structure, and storage
  • Explore innovative strategies to integrate Power Automate into existing processes
  • Facilitate the development and launch of Fixed Income Strategy SharePoint site, take ownership of daily monitoring and timely updating of releases.

Suitable candidates must be able to balance competing priorities with various deadlines in a high-stakes environment.

The People You Will Work With

The position will work closely with the Senior Directors - Fixed Income Strategy and the Senior Director - Investor Relations and Finance Strategy. The student will also interact with the Treasury and Asset Liability Management teams in Finance as well as other teams in the enterprise.

Where and When You Will Work

The student primarily will work remotely, for a minimum of 10 hours not to exceed 20 hours per week during the semester. Work outside of core hours may be required for planned and unplanned activities to complete time-sensitive projects or to attend off-site meetings or events.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong interest in capital markets, mortgage finance, statistics, data analysis, and fixed-income mathematics and concepts
  • Solid MS Excel skills and experience with Salesforce as a CRM tool
  • Working knowledge of database systems
  • Strong educational record of achievement with an equally strong desire to learn
  • Must be self-motivated and work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, as well as attention to detail, are a must

Successful candidates must share the Farmer Mac values and demonstrate an ability to work collegially and collaboratively.

Education and Experience

  • Currently enrolled junior or senior undergraduate or graduate-level student pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or other quantitative disciplines
  • Minimum GPA of 3.4
