Internal Audit/Corporate Audit Services

The ING Americas’ Corporate Audit Service (CAS) team is looking for a summer intern who is interested in supporting the team in providing independent assurance services designed to add value and improve ING’s operations by evaluating the effectiveness of governance, control and risk management processes against regulations and ING standards and to recommend improvements.

CAS is the global internal audit function of ING Group, one of the Global Systematically Important Financial Institutions with its Head Office in Amsterdam. It is a strong, united organization of talented people in which knowledge and best practices are shared around the world. CAS is highly regarded by its clients and endorsed by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the execution of audit assignments as needed. Able to acquire a global understanding of the audit object.
  • Support the team in performing key controls testing in Lending, Sectors, Non-financial risk, and Financial Markets audits. Assists in documenting the audit work and produces materials such as reports and analysis, meeting minutes, evidence obtained and audit conclusions in the audit file.
  • Assists in the audit close-out meeting and the preparation of draft audit findings which include identified control deficiencies and recommendations.
  • Stays up to date with developments internally and externally in the fields of commercial banking and internal audit.
  • Support the team with various ongoing projects.

Profile (What we’re looking for)

Undergraduate college student, graduating in 2026 or 2027 in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Investment, Computer Sciences, Business Administration, Compliance, Risk management or related field. Graduate students may also be considered for certain roles. 

Liberal arts majors interested in careers in finance and banking are welcome to apply. 

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Experience obtained in financial markets, lending, risk, compliance, IT or operations in financial institutions or in public practice accounting is a plus.

  • Professional sceptic attitude
  • Strong communication skills (verbally and in writing)
  • Team player and creative: strives for innovation, improvement, and efficiency.
  • Candidate should have a ‘make it happen mentality’, a clear interest in the financial services industry and a willingness to continuously learn and improve.

Salary: $35/hour. This role is also eligible for overtime.
