Building Performance Intern

IMEG is growing, and we’d love to have you join our team!  We are currently seeking a Building Performance Intern in our St. Louis, MO office. The Building Performance Intern will provide support in building performance optimization, energy planning and management, and decarbonization planning of large building portfolios with a major focus on optimizing building systems and technologies. Building performance optimization is the integration of energy/carbon/sustainability planning, utility analytics, Cx, RCx, MBCx, and BAS/metering optimization. This position will work to align technical solutions with broader organizational objectives. 

 

Principal Responsibilities 

Develop innovative and effective ways to optimize performance existing and new facilities 

Assist with portfolio-wide building data compilation and analysis of energy usage and carbon emissions 

Assist with building, project and operation and maintenance planning and tracking around energy usage and carbon emissions 

Review building drawings, building automation systems and other facility data;  

Conduct analysis and calculations and participate in site surveys and data collection 

Assist with report preparation and incentive application to utilities 

Attend internal and external meetings 

Assist with identification and analysis of energy efficiency measures 

Draft pre-functional checklists and conduct field functional testing 

Compile and prioritize buildings and equipment to be monitored 

Compile and manage issues logs based on data analytics and facilitate the planning and implementation of corrective actions 

 

Required Skills/Abilities 

Strong verbal and written communication skills including, but not limited to, the ability to listen effectively, and solicit input from others 

Strong organizational skills including, but not limited to, the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently, and the ability to manage resource procurement and utilization 

Strong interest in the application and research of advanced technology 

Ability to fit into our culture of growth, innovation, accountability, and adaptability 

Knowledge and implementation experience of national and local energy conservation codes and local laws preferred 

Knowledge of local, state and federal tax rebate and incentive programs 

Knowledge of energy utilities, and operational and embodied carbon 

Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook 

 

Education and Experience 

Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering, or equivalent required 

Prior internship experience in the building design engineering industry preferred
