Job Purpose:

Stanford University is seeking a temporary Life Science Research Professional 1 to perform basic functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct and analyze experiments. Participate in research studying the contribution of specific nerve populations in driving knee osteoarthritis-mediated pain. Work directly with Principal Investigator to review outcome of experiments and makes recommendations for change when needed.

Work Arrangement:  Hybrid 1-2 days/week on site 

Work Schedule:  20-40 hours per week

Work Location:  3174 Porter Drive, Palo Alto, CA 94085

Core Duties:

Plan and perform experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory. Interpret and perform basic analyses of results. Participate in research studying the contribution of neuronal cells populations to knee osteoarthritis-mediated pain. Perform a variety of in vitro and in vivo experiments related to animal models of disease, utilizing variety of behavioral, molecular biological and histological methods. Support ongoing projects, troubleshoot and adapt methods as necessary to achieve project goals. Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and related research. Offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaboration with graduate post-doctoral individuals. Maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes. Record and analyze results and provide reports. Due to the complexity of the project, must maintain concise, accurate records and data, ensuring integrity of the animal records system. Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals. Other duties may also be assigned.

 

Education (Desired): Bachelor's degree in related scientific field. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Desired)

  • General understanding of scientific principles. Demonstrated performance to use knowledge and skills when needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge of science principals to problem solve work. 
  • Ability to maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
  • General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications.
  • Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work.

 

Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated experience working in a laboratory setting.

The expected pay range for this position is $27.75 to $46.34 per hour.
